### 56F Authorisation of persons to install and operate photographic detection devices > [*\[Section 56F Inserted by No. 7 of 2002, s. 10, Applied:01 Nov 2002\]*](/view/html/inforce/2002-11-01/act-2002-007#GS10@EN) > > > (1)  [*\[Section 56F Subsection (1) amended by No. 27 of 2022, s. 11, Applied:23 Jun 2023\]*](/view/html/inforce/2023-06-23/act-2022-027#GS11@Hpb@EN) [*\[Section 56F Subsection (1) amended by No. 27 of 2022, s. 11, Applied:23 Jun 2023\]*](/view/html/inforce/2023-06-23/act-2022-027#GS11@Hpa@EN) The Commission, or a senior police officer, may authorise another police officer or person, in writing, to do either or both of the following things for the purposes of this Act: > > > > > > (a) install photographic detection devices; > > > > > > > (b) operate photographic detection devices. > > > (2)  The authorisation may apply to photographic detection devices generally or photographic detection devices of a kind specified in the authorisation. > > > (3)  The authorisation may be for an indefinite period or for a period specified in the authorisation. > > > (4)  Notwithstanding section 6 of the *Traffic Offence Detection Devices (New Arrangements) Act 2002*, any authorisation in force under [section 51B(2) of the](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-1925-038#GS51B@Gs2@EN) [Traffic Act 1925](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-1925-038) immediately before the commencement of that section continues in force according to its terms as if it were an authorisation under [subsection (1)](#GS56F@Gs1@EN) .
