Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This short amending Act fixes a technical gap created when Australia updated Commonwealth workers’ compensation laws in 1972. By adding explicit references to the Government of the United States of America alongside the Commonwealth in the 1971 Act’s schedule, it ensures civilian employees at the US Naval Communication Station (Harold E. Holt) who are employed by the US Government continue to be covered by Australian workers’ compensation protections.
