Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act authorises the Australian Government to give £10 million to the British Government as a one-off financial grant.

The money is drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the Commonwealth's main bank account, which holds all taxpayer revenue).

Passed in the aftermath of World War II, this legislation simply unlocks the funds and approves the transfer. There are no complex conditions, ongoing obligations, or repayment terms—just a straightforward appropriation of public money to support Australia's key ally during a period of economic recovery.
