Commonwealth legislation
This instrument modifies the Repatriation Private Patient Principles so they operate under the Treatment Benefits (Special Access) Act 2019. It fixes commencement (1 July 2019) and updates core statutory references and definitions to align the Principles with the new Act and the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.
It affects veterans and other persons seeking special‑access treatment benefits and the Repatriation Commission’s administration: who counts as eligible, what hospitals qualify, and which statutory rules apply are now determined by the 2019 Act’s definitions rather than older Repatriation definitions.
