Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

These regulations temporarily suspend (put on hold) the Transport Workers (Seamen) Regulations made in 1935.

What it does

Stops the 1935 Seamen Regulations (and all their later amendments) from having any legal effect while these Suspension Regulations remain in force.
Essentially hits the "pause button" on specific workplace rules that previously applied to seamen under the Transport Workers Act.

Who it affects

Maritime workers (seamen) who were covered by the now-suspended regulations.
Employers in the shipping industry who no longer have to comply with those specific rules.

Why it matters

It removes regulatory requirements that previously governed employment conditions, licensing, or conduct for seamen, likely to provide flexibility during wartime (1940).
