sch.1-sec.78 Effective range of headlights
This section applies to a headlight fitted to a motor vehicle that is on at night. A low-beam headlight must illuminate the road ahead of the vehicle for at least 25m. A high-beam headlight must illuminate the road ahead of the vehicle for at least 50m. However, a low-beam headlight fitted to a motor vehicle built before 1931, or a moped, need only illuminate the road ahead of the vehicle for at least 12m. (sch.1-sec.78-ssec.1) This section applies to a headlight fitted to a motor vehicle that is on at night.
