sch.1-sec.39 Bonnet securing devices
A motor vehicle with a moveable body panel forward of the windscreen that covers an engine, luggage storage or battery compartment must have a device to secure the panel. However, if the panel opens from the front in a way that partly or completely obstructs the driver’s forward view through the windscreen, the panel must have primary and secondary devices to secure the panel.
