sec.62 When cancellation on application by vehicle’s registered operator takes effect
This section applies if a vehicle’s registration is cancelled on an application by the registered operator under section 52 . If the application is made under section 52 (1) (a) or (b) (ii) or (iii) , the cancellation takes effect on the day the chief executive receives the application. However, if the application is made under section 52 (1) (b) (ii) and the chief executive is satisfied the vehicle is equivalently registered, the cancellation is taken to have been effective on the day immediately after the day the vehicle became equivalently registered. If the application is made under section 52 (1) (b) (i) , the cancellation takes effect, or is taken to have been effective, on the day after the vehicle is reported as stolen to the Queensland Police Service. If the application is made under section 52 (1) (b) (iv) , the cancellation takes effect, or is taken to have been effective, on the day after the day the vehicle became a total loss.
