If the chief executive receives an application to cancel a vehicle’s registration under subdivision 1 , the chief executive may— cancel the vehicle’s registration; and record the cancellation in the register. However, this section does not apply if the chief executive is already taking action to cancel the vehicle’s registration under section 58 or 59 .
