sec.87 Giving way when moving from a side of a road or a median strip parking area

A driver entering a marked lane, or a line of traffic, from the far left or right side of a road must give way to any vehicle travelling in the lane or line of traffic. Maximum penalty—20 penalty units. However, the driver of a bus does not have to give way to a vehicle if— the driver of the vehicle is required to give way to the bus under section 77 ; and it is safe for the bus to enter the lane or line of traffic in which the vehicle is driving. A driver turning from a median strip parking area into a marked lane, or a line of traffic, must give way to any vehicle travelling in the lane or line of traffic. Maximum penalty—20 penalty units. In this section— road does not include a road-related area, but includes any shoulder of the road.
