sec.257 Allocation of demerit points generally
The number of demerit points allocated for a demerit points offence or interstate offence is the number of demerit points mentioned in schedule 5 for— if the offence is a demerit points offence—the offence; or if the offence is an interstate offence—the offence that corresponds to the interstate offence. The demerit points are taken to be allocated on the day the demerit points offence or interstate offence was committed. This section applies subject to sections 258 to 261 . (sec.257-ssec.1) The number of demerit points allocated for a demerit points offence or interstate offence is the number of demerit points mentioned in schedule 5 for— if the offence is a demerit points offence—the offence; or if the offence is an interstate offence—the offence that corresponds to the interstate offence. (sec.257-ssec.2) The demerit points are taken to be allocated on the day the demerit points offence or interstate offence was committed. (sec.257-ssec.3) This section applies subject to sections 258 to 261 .
- (a) if the offence is a demerit points offence—the offence; or
- (b) if the offence is an interstate offence—the offence that corresponds to the interstate offence.
