185 Acting appointment of Chief Investigator, Transport Safety S. 185(1) amended by No. 34/2023 s. 107(2). (1) The Governor in Council may appoint a person to act in the office of the Chief Investigator, Transport Safety— (a) during a vacancy in that office; or (b) during a period or all periods when the person holding that office is absent from duty or is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office. (2) An appointment under subsection (1) is for the period, not exceeding 6 months, which is specified in the instrument of appointment. S. 185(3) amended by No. 34/2023 s. 107(3). (3) The Governor in Council may at any time remove from office the person acting in the office of the Chief Investigator, Transport Safety. S. 185(4) amended by No. 34/2023 s. 107(3). (4) While a person is acting in the office of the Chief Investigator, Transport Safety in accordance with this section, the person— (a) has, and may exercise, all the powers and must perform all the duties of that office under this Act or any other Act; and S. 185(4)(b) amended by No. 34/2023 s. 107(3). (b) is entitled to be paid the remuneration and allowances that the Chief Investigator, Transport Safety would have been entitled to for performing those duties.
