115R Ministerial direction to investigate safety matter (1) The Minister may direct Safe Transport Victoria to investigate a bus safety matter, commercial passenger vehicle safety matter or marine safety matter. (2) The Minister must not give a direction under this section— (a) that directs Safe Transport Victoria as to how to conduct an investigation; or (b) that directs Safe Transport Victoria as to which persons Safe Transport Victoria may request or direct to assist Safe Transport Victoria in an investigation; or (c) about the outcome of an investigation; or (d) that directs Safe Transport Victoria to stop an investigation. (3) A direction under this section— (a) must be published in the Government Gazette; and (b) takes effect on it being published in the Government Gazette. (4) The Minister must cause to be laid before each House of Parliament a copy of a direction under this section on or before the third sitting day of the House after the direction is published in the Government Gazette. (5) Safe Transport Victoria must comply with a direction given under this section. S. 115S substituted by No. 34/2023 s. 75.
