13 Defence in relation to travel (1) It is a defence to a charge under regulation 7(1) that the person charged took all reasonable steps that were available to have in the person's possession a ticket that was valid for the whole of the person's travel— (a) before commencing the travel; and (b) while undertaking the travel. (2) It is a defence to a charge under regulation 8(2) that the person charged took all reasonable steps that were available to produce for inspection a token that proves the existence of a ticket that was valid for the whole of the person's travel— (a) before commencing the travel; and (b) while undertaking the travel.
