106 Grants to councils in connection with use of buses
> > (1) TfNSW shall, in accordance with such directions as may be given by the Minister, administer any scheme approved by the Minister for the making of grants to councils of local government areas in a transport district for the purpose of defraying the costs incurred in maintaining public roads used by buses.

> > (2) The amount approved by the Minister for distribution in any financial year must not exceed the amount of tax and charges which the Minister estimates was received under the [Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 1988](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1988-111) and Schedule 2 to the [Road Transport Act 2013](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2013-018) (or a former corresponding provision within the meaning of that Act) during the previous financial year in connection with the registration of buses.

> > (3) The amount distributed to each eligible council shall be calculated by reference to the estimated distance travelled by buses on public roads wholly or partly maintained by each council.
>
> > (4) Grants under this section shall be made from money appropriated by Parliament for the purpose.
