149 Payment in event of death (1) If, at the time of the death of a person an amount, not exceeding $1000, was payable by the Commission to that person or would have been so payable if an application had been made, the Commission may without requiring the production of probate or letters of administration pay the whole or any part of that amount to a person who satisfies the Commission that he or she is entitled to the property of the deceased person under the will or under the law relating to the disposition of property of deceased persons or that he or she is entitled to obtain probate of the will of the deceased person or to take out letters of administration of the estate. (2) If the Commission pays an amount under subsection (1) it is discharged from further liability in respect of the payment of that amount.
