V No. 78 \]*[*\[Section 56 Amended by No. 90 of 1999, Sched. 1, Applied:14 Aug 2000\]*](/view/html/inforce/2000-08-14/act-1999-090#JS1@Ja26@GC27@Hpa@EN) [*\[Section 56 Amended by No. 90 of 1999, Sched. 1, Applied:14 Aug 2000\]*](/view/html/inforce/2000-08-14/act-1999-090#JS1@Ja26@GC26@Hpg@EN) Except as otherwise expressly provided, nothing in this Act or the [Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-1999-070) shall affect the provisions of any other Act or any rule of common law, but the failure by any person to comply with any provision of this Act or the [Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-1999-070) may be relied upon in any proceedings (civil or criminal) by any party to such proceedings, as tending to establish, or to negative, any liability which is in question in such proceedings.
