Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Proclamation is the formal instrument that switches on part of the Tradex Scheme Amendment Act 2010.

What it does:

Sets the start date: It fixes 13 May 2011 as the day when Schedule 1 of the Amendment Act comes into force (begins operating).
Legal authority: It is made under the commencement provisions (section 2(1), item 2) of the same Act.
Who issued it: The Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council.

Why it matters: Parliament often passes laws that do not take effect immediately. This document acts as the official "on switch," telling businesses, regulators, and the courts exactly when the amendments in Schedule 1 become legally binding.
