Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This notice imposes mandatory safety rules for hydraulic wheeled trolley jacks (up to 2.5 tonnes), replacing an older 1993 safety standard and updating supplier obligations. Sellers, importers and manufacturers must meet either AS 2615–1987 or AS/NZS 2615–1995, with the 1987 option expiring 1 January 1999.

Non‑compliant jacks may not be supplied and the ACCC can enforce penalties under the Trade Practices/Competition and Consumer Act. The change reduces risk of vehicle drops, injury, or death by ensuring recognised safety features.
