TORRES STRAIT PRAWN FISHERY FISHING SEASON DETERMINATION 2025

The PROTECTED ZONE JOINT AUTHORITY makes the following Determination under section 15A(1) and 35(1)(a) of the Torres Strait Fisheries Act 1984 and under subsection 2.3(2) of the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery Management Plan 2009.

Citation

1. This Determination is the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery Fishing Season Determination 2025.

Commencement

2. This Determination commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation.

Interpretation

3. Terms used in this Determination have the same meaning as in the Torres Strait Fisheries Act 1984 and the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery Management Plan 2009.

Determination of the fishing season

4. The fishing season in the Torres Strait Prawn Fishery for a particular year is the period specified as follows:

5. for the 2026 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2026 to 6 am on 1 December 2026 local time;

6. for the 2027 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2027 to 6 am on 1 December 2027 local time;

7. for the 2028 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2028 to 6 am on 1 December 2028 local time;

8. for the 2029 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2029 to 6 am on 1 December 2029 local time;

9. for the 2030 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2030 to 6 am on 1 December 2030 local time;

10. for the 2031 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2031 to 6 am on 1 December 2031 local time;

11. for the 2032 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2032 to 6 am on 1 December 2032 local time;

12. for the 2033 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2033 to 6 am on 1 December 2033 local time;

13. for the 2034 year, the period from 6 pm on 1 February 2034 to 6 am on 1 December 2034 local time; and
