legislative instrument

Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This instrument scraps (repeals) the Tobacco Research and Development Regulations made in 1990.

Why it matters: The 1990 Regulations established the legal framework for a tobacco research and development corporation, including how it was funded and governed. This 1995 instrument deletes those rules entirely, effectively abolishing that regulatory scheme from 1 July 1995 onwards.

Who made it: The Governor-General (acting on ministerial advice) made this under the Primary Industries and Energy Research and Development Act 1989.

Key effect: Statutory Rules 1990 No. 145 ceased to have any legal force from the commencement date.
