#### 8BI Compliance by Telstra successor companies
(1) A Telstra successor company must take all reasonable steps to ensure that an unacceptable foreign‑ownership situation does not exist in relation to the Telstra successor company.
(2) A Telstra successor company commits an offence if:
(a) the Telstra successor company engages in conduct; and
(b) that conduct contravenes subsection (1).
Penalty: 500 penalty units.
(3) In this section:
> engage in conduct means:
(a) do an act; or
(b) omit to perform an act.
