Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument caps the universal service levy at $221 million for the 2013–14 year. It limits what telecommunications carriers pay into the fund that supports affordable phone and internet access (including rural/remote services), protecting industry from a larger one‑year charge and helping keep contribution impacts on consumers predictable.
