This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This Declaration sets which Australian 13, 1300 and 1800 phone numbers may be sold to telecommunications providers by auction under the Telecommunications Numbering Plan 1997. It makes all 6‑digit 13 numbers (13 XX XX) and all 10‑digit 1300/1800 numbers (1300/1800 XXX XXX) available, while excluding numbers reserved for International Country Direct services and a handful of specific reserved ranges. It matters because it determines who can acquire control of business "smartnumbers" and how they are allocated.
