Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument formally designates specific Australian Capital Territory buildings as "emergency service facilities" under the Telecommunications (Interception) Act 1979, authorising lawful telecommunications interception at those locations. It covers AFP — ACT Community Policing facilities at Belconnen and Greenway, and ACT Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service facilities at Curtin.

The designation ensures interception at these premises falls within the Act’s warrant-and-oversight framework and operates alongside a broader Declaration setting out the facilities’ operational rules.
