2/10 complexity

The Attorney‑General used his s6N power to declare that unsworn Western Australia Police staff employed or seconded to the Telecommunications Interception Unit are, for purposes of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979, to be treated as corresponding to AFP employees who are not AFP members. This reclassification affects those staff and any parties whose legal rights, access or duties under the Act depend on an individual’s statutory classification, because it determines which powers and obligations apply.
