Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This declaration, made by the Attorney‑General under s 6N of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979, treats certain unsworn NSW Police staff (Telecommunications Interception Branch and those on high‑priority interception tasks) as equivalent to “AFP employees who are not members of the AFP” for the TI Act’s purposes. It changes statutory classification so interception‑related rights and obligations that attach to that AFP category also apply to the named NSW staff; it does not create new powers, funding, or procedural details.
