73 Penalty for teaching unregistered or without authorisation (1) A person must not teach in a school in the Territory unless: (a) the person is a registered teacher; or (b) the person holds an interim certificate of registration that: (i) indicates the Director reasonably believes the Board is likely to grant the person's application for registration; and (ii) is in force under section 34; or (c) the person's employer has been granted authorisation for the person to teach.

Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act 2004 55 (2) An offence against subsection (1) is an offence of strict liability. (3) It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against subsection (1) if the defendant has a reasonable excuse.
