What this does

This regulation scraps the previous rules that put a tax (called an 'export duty') on tea leaving Australia.

Key points

Cancels old tax rules: It wipes out the Tea Export Duty Regulations from 1951 and 1952, which required exporters to pay duty on tea exports.
Stops the tax: Once repealed, tea exporters no longer need to pay this specific export tax.
Effective date: The change applies from 1 October 1955 (before the regulation was actually signed).

Who it affects Australian businesses exporting tea overseas.

Why it matters Removing export duties makes Australian tea cheaper for international buyers, helping local tea sellers compete better on the global market.
