53 Payment by cheque If a tax officer accepts a cheque given in purported payment of tax, the payment is accepted conditionally on the cheque being honoured on first presentation and the tax will be taken to have been paid at the time of the acceptance of the cheque if (and only if) the cheque is honoured on first presentation.
