Payee with more than 5 dependent children
1. Weekly earnings less than $747.
Round the weekly earnings down to the nearest dollar. Find the payee’s earnings in the ‘Weekly earnings’ column and read off the corresponding amount of Medicare levy adjustment from the appropriate 5 children column.
Note: Where weekly earnings are less than $747 and 5 or more dependent children are claimed, the maximum Medicare levy adjustment that can be claimed is the amount equal to the amount of Medicare levy actually included in the amount to be withheld on the payee’s weekly earnings.
| ExampleThe payee has weekly earnings of $410.65 and is claiming 6 dependent children. Find $410 in the ‘Weekly earnings’ column and read off the corresponding Medicare levy adjustment of $6.00 from the ‘Spouse only OR 1-5 children’ column. |
