Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This law authorizes a one-off payment of $21.9 million from the Commonwealth to Tasmania for the 1969-70 financial year as general financial assistance.

Key points:

The payment is reduced by any amounts already given to Tasmania under the States Grants (Special Assistance) Act 1968
The Treasurer can also make advance payments to Tasmania for the first six months of the 1970-71 financial year, capped at half of the main amount (roughly $10.95 million)
All money comes from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the government's main bank account containing tax revenue)

This is a simple appropriation (spending) law with no ongoing legal effect beyond authorizing these specific grants.
