Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does This Act authorises a one-off payment of £200,000 to the State of Tasmania as extra financial assistance for the 1942-43 financial year. This money is on top of grants already provided under the States Grants Act 1942.

Who it affects

Tasmania: Receives the funds to support its budget.
The Commonwealth: Must pay the money from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the government's main bank account).

Why it matters During World War II, this additional funding helped Tasmania meet its state expenses at a time when wartime pressures were straining state budgets. The Act is a straightforward "money bill" — it simply opens the federal purse for a specific grant to one state.
