This proclamation sets 1 July 2012 as the day most of the Cat Management Act 2009 comes into force, except for section 24 which remains uncommenced. The Governor, acting with the Executive Council under section 2 of the Act, made and notified the proclamation; the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment will administer the Act. Mechanically, obligations and powers created by the Act begin on that date, so people and bodies subject to the Act must comply from 1 July 2012.
