What this does: This order cancels a previous tax break (called a tariff concession) that made it cheaper to import certain display tins into Australia.
Who it affects: Importers of specific display tins classified under customs code 7310.29.00 — specifically those made from tin sheet between 0.2mm and 0.4mm thick with transparent windows in the lid.
Why it matters: From 17 May 2007, these goods no longer qualify for reduced import duties. Importers must pay the standard (higher) customs tariff rate, making these display tins more expensive to bring into the country. The order reverses concession TC 0610368, which had been in place since June 2006.
