This document cancels a previous tax break (called a tariff concession) that applied to certain imported conveyor belts.
What it does
- Revokes (cancels) Tariff Concession Order 0839787, which originally allowed textile-reinforced conveyor belting to be imported with reduced or zero customs duty
- The cancellation takes effect from 23 February 2009
Who it affects
- Importers of conveyor belts classified under customs code 4010.12.00 (specifically textile-reinforced types, with or without splicing kits)
- These businesses will now need to pay standard import duties instead of the previous concessional rate
Why it matters
- Increases the cost of importing these specific conveyor belts into Australia
- Removes a financial advantage that was available from 13 November 2008 until 22 February 2009
This order is made under the Customs Act 1901 by a delegate of the Chief Executive Officer (of the Australian Border Force or its predecessor agency).
