This order cancels special tax breaks for importing certain goods into Australia.
Under the Customs Act, businesses can apply for Tariff Concession Orders (TCOs) which allow specific goods to be imported duty-free (without customs tax) when no equivalent products are made locally. This document revokes 17 existing TCOs, which means:
- What changes: Importers of these specific goods must now pay standard customs duties instead of bringing them in tax-free
- Who is affected: Companies importing goods covered by the 17 concession order numbers listed in the table (0506272, 0506768, etc.)
- When: The change takes effect from 1 July 2010
The revocation was made by a delegate of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service after determining these goods no longer qualified for concessions—typically because local manufacturers now produce equivalent items.
