This order cancels a previous tariff concession (a special exemption that let certain goods be imported without paying customs duty, or at a lower rate) for specific industrial equipment parts.
What goods are affected?
The order targets parts for pulse-jet filters used in gas turbine air intake systems, specifically:
- Intermediate or access modules
- Housing modules
- Hoppers
- Rain hoods
- Droplet catchers
These are classified under customs code 8421.99.00 (parts of machinery for filtering gases).
What changed?
Previously, importers could bring these parts into Australia under Tariff Concession Order 0824041 (made in October 2008) without paying the standard import duty. This revocation cancels that exemption effective from 17 December 2009. After that date, importers must pay the normal customs duty rate on these goods.
Who issued it?
The order was made by a delegate of the Chief Executive Officer under the Customs Act 1901.
