This document cancels a previous tax break on imported asphalt manufacturing equipment.
Under the earlier Tariff Concession Order 0617185 (from 2006), businesses could import specific asphalt plant machinery without paying full customs duty (tariff). This revocation removes that benefit for goods falling under tariff classification 8474.32.00, which includes:
- Bins, mixers, screeners, and dryer drums
- Conveyor belts, elevators, and feeders
- Bag houses, hot oil boilers, tanks, and flues
- Structural components like frames, railings, and ladders
What this means: From 27 July 2011, importers must pay standard customs duties on these items. The concession is dead, making asphalt plant equipment more expensive to bring into Australia.
