This order cancels a previous tax break (called a tariff concession) that allowed certain industrial filtering equipment to be imported without paying standard customs duties.
What it does:
- Revokes Tariff Concession Order 0800662, which had been in place since January 2008
- Removes the duty exemption for air, moisture and noise filtering plant (including systems with filters, fans, compressors, pumps, acoustic enclosures, and other components)
- Means importers must now pay normal customs duties on these goods under tariff code 8479.10.00
Who it affects:
Businesses importing industrial air filtration, moisture control, or noise reduction equipment into Australia.
When it takes effect:
The revocation applies from 27 July 2011.
