This order cancels a previous import tax break (called a tariff concession) on specific car floor mats.
What it does:
It revokes concession order TC 0606142, removing the duty-free or reduced-duty status that previously applied to certain polypropylene car mats.
Which goods are affected:
Car mats made from polypropylene that have all three of these physical features:
- A stipple (textured) backing
- Nylon or yarn edging
- A PVC foam heel pad
Who is affected:
Importers of these specific car mats, who must now pay full customs duty instead of the concession rate.
Why it matters:
This change takes effect from 6 July 2007. These revocations typically occur when Australian manufacturers successfully argue they can produce equivalent goods locally, meaning importers should no longer receive preferential tariff treatment.
