This order removes a special import duty exemption (called a tariff concession) for specific types of power cables.
What it does:
It cancels Tariff Concession Order TC 0607264, which previously allowed duty-free (or reduced-duty) import of certain high-voltage power cables.
What goods are affected?
Power cables classified under tariff code 8544.60.90 that meet ALL these criteria:
- Test voltage of at least 4 kV (kilovolts)
- Cross-linked polyethylene insulation
- Working temperature range between minus 40°C and plus 70°C
Who is affected?
Importers of these specific industrial power cables. From 26 March 2007, these goods became subject to standard customs duties again.
Why it matters:
If you import these cables, this revocation increases your costs by removing the duty exemption that had been in place since April 2006.
