Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Order makes a specific type of 3-phase variable-torque inverter used in metal coating lines eligible for a Schedule 4 tariff concession (item 50) from 31 August 2011 until revoked. Importers or manufacturers of these inverters face lower customs duty as a result; the concession is administered by the Customs delegate and can be revoked under the Customs Act. The change mechanically exempts the narrowly specified goods from the usual tariff treatment.
