This order gives importers a tax break (called a tariff concession) when bringing specific types of car glass into Australia.
What it covers:
- Safety glass for passenger motor vehicles
- Specifically toughened (tempered) glass used for windows and windscreens
- Must fall under customs code 7007.11.11
What it means:
Businesses importing this exact type of automotive glass can pay lower customs duties than the standard rate. The concession applies under Item 50 of Schedule 4 to the Customs Tariff Act 1995. To claim this benefit, importers must comply with the requirements of the Customs Act 1901.
How long it lasts:
The concession took effect on 23 February 2010 and remains in force until it is formally revoked or replaced.
