This Order, made under s 269P of the Customs Act 1901, treats externally‑mounted reversing audible alarms (tariff classification 8512.30.00) as goods to which Part III, Schedule 4, item 50 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995 applies, effective 22 Feb 2010 until revoked (see ss 269SC/269SD). It matters to importers, customs officers and suppliers because it changes the tariff treatment for those alarms: importers can rely on the Schedule 4 concession if they meet the classification and eligibility rules.
