Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

Mechanically, this Order declares that programmable, PLC‑controlled bacteria fermenters (Customs Tariff classification 8419.89.90) are covered by Part III, Schedule 4 item 50 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995, applying that Schedule 4 concession from 3 July 2009. The decision is made by a Customs delegate under s.269P; the concession reduces customs duty for importers (and therefore the revenue the Commonwealth receives) and remains in force until revoked under ss.269SC or 269SD.
