Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Order (under s.269P of the Customs Act 1901) declares a specific silicon‑carbide based ramming mixture for blast furnaces — defined by minimum percentages of SiC, alumina, silica (fumes) and kaolinite — to be covered by item 50 in Part III of Schedule 4 to the Customs Tariff Act 1995, effective 11 March 2009. Mechanically, it changes the tariff treatment for importers of that product; importers bear compliance costs to prove classification and composition, and the Order may be revoked under ss.269SC–269SD.
