This Order (under s.269P of the Customs Act 1901) makes programmable, PLC‑controlled magnetic particle processing machines (tariff classification 8479.89.90) eligible for Schedule 4, item 50 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995 from 31 July 2008 until revoked. It affects importers and suppliers by reducing or removing tariff charges for these specified machines. The CEO’s delegate (Paul Mercer) authorises the concession; revocation may occur under ss.269SC–269SD. Importers must correctly classify goods to claim the concession, which can change sourcing and pricing decisions.
