Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Order treats a narrow class of large DC motors ( Customs Tariff classification 8501.34.00 ) that meet precise technical limits (output >375 kW; speed 650–1,400 RPM; armature voltage 460–750 V DC) as goods covered by item 50 in Part III of Schedule 4 to the Customs Tariff Act 1995 from 12 March 2008 until revoked. It changes tariff treatment for importers and manufacturers of those motors, so import costs, sourcing decisions and compliance checks turn on meeting the listed specifications.
