What it does
This instrument is a Tariff Concession Order made under section 269P of the Customs Act 1901 (the Order). The operative declaration in the Order states that the goods specified in Column 1 of the Table are “goods to which the item in Part III of Schedule 4 to the Customs Tariff Act 1995 specified in Column 2 of THE TABLE applies.” That is the only operative legal effect recorded in the text: it ties a defined set of goods (Column 1) to an item located in Part III of Schedule 4 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995 (Column 2). The Order gives the operative commencement date as 10.09.07 (op. 10.09.07), and carries the instrument identifier TC 0714693.
The Order expressly states its duration rule. It “shall have effect from 10.09.07 and continue in force until revoked under sections 269SC or 269SD of the Act, or the date, if any, specified in Column 2.” Thus the Order itself does not set a numeric expiry date in the body beyond that framework; instead it points to the statutory revocation routes (s 269SC or s 269SD) or to any date that might be shown in Column 2 of the Table. In this instrument Column 2 records “Schedule 4 Item Number” as “50” and the cell for a “Last date of effect” is empty in the presented text.
The Order includes a tariff classification number in the heading row (the HTML shows 8474.90.00). The textual Table identifies in Column 1 the description of the goods covered, in Column 2 the Schedule 4 item number (50), and the instrument records the operation data line “Op. 10.09.07 - TC 0714693.” The Order is signed by a delegate of the Chief Executive Officer, named Wendy Knowles, and dated 30 November 2007.
Mechanically, then, the Order performs one narrow legal function: it declares that a specific set of parts (listed in Column 1) are to be treated as goods to which a particular Schedule 4 item (Part III, Item 50) applies, effective from 10 September 2007 until revocation under the statutory provisions cited or until any date that may be recorded in the Column 2 “Last date of effect” cell.
